Competitive Tryout Information and Volunteer Form - VP Competitive -Stephen Pelham

July 17, 2021

Hello Chebucto Families,

Registration for the 2021 - 2022 minor hockey season has begun, I just wanted to pass along some important information for those planning on trying out for competitive hockey at the U11 - U18 levels.

Tryout Information

Parents and players: Please read the following information regarding CMHA tryouts for 2021 - 2022. It contains important information concerning our tryout processes. As registration closes, and we have final numbers for players, more information will become available.

Tryout Dates

As per Hockey Nova Scotia’s Rebound Plan, tryouts will begin October 1st.

Identification Camps

During the month of September, we will be holding mandatory identification camps for all players wishing to try out for competitive. These sessions will allow for players to be grouped appropriately for tryouts in October. As registration closes, more information will be provided regarding dates, times, etc.

Tryout Jerseys

When registering your child, please make sure to include an appropriate jersey size, as we will be utilizing these jerseys to identify players during tryouts. Once registration has closed, each player will be assigned a number and this will identify them throughout the tryout process. These jerseys will be handed out at the beginning of identification camps.

U15/ U18 Players

For players registering for U15 or U18, you are asked to inform CMHA if you are trying out for a U15 Major, U18 Major/ Minor team, and/ or a High School Team. Please make sure to reach out immediately to CMHA if you are successful in making a team, and no longer wish to try out for a team in CMHA.

Pre- Season Development Info and Registration for 2021-22 Season

August 4, 2021

Hello Chebucto Minor Hockey Association (“CMHA”) Members,

The CMHA is pleased to announce that we will be offering pre-season development sessions for our players.  With an official start date of October 1st for the upcoming season, this is an opportunity for our players to shake off the rust and refine their individual skills.  Our on-ice program is designed for players of all skill levels from U9 to U18 to prepare for the upcoming season. These sessions will include a broad range of drills while following Hockey Nova Scotia‘s Rebound Plan.

Our preseason will run August 27th - August 31st and resume September 7th and will run through until the final week of September.  Below you will find the days and times, however, the exact dates and time slots for specific groups will be confirmed once registration is closed. All sessions will take place at either the Halifax Civic Arena & Halifax Forum.

We will be offering Development Session Blocks at a cost of $125 per Block.  Each Block will consist of 5 x 1-hour on-ice sessions, for a total of 5 hours per Block which equates to roughly 1 hour of ice per week.  Players can choose to register for 1 or 2 Blocks. Goalies can register for the Goalie Development Blocks lead by Justin Ritcey. If an opportunity arises, goalies may be asked if they would like to attend the players blocks at no additional cost.

You can register through the attached Google Form. The deadline to register is August 19th and Block groupings and times will be posted on August 23rd. Payments need to be made by e-transfer to treasurer@chebuctominorhockey.com.  Please use the password "hockey" and include the player’s “full name” and “birth year” in the message section.  Players will not be considered registered, and thus will not be eligible to participate, until payment has been received.
Please follow this link to register:

Due to the COVID-19 guidelines we must follow, spectators will not be permitted at this time, however this restriction may change. All players, on ice staff and volunteers will still need to follow Public Health guidelines. This includes wearing masks into the arenas and in dressing rooms. If players are unable to dress themselves, please have them arrive full gear. Please remember that anyone attending or volunteering in any CMHA sessions must self assess for Covid 19 symptoms and only come if you are feeling well. We appreciate your adherence to this. Until such time, that our Public Health measures change, we will be following these practices.

If you have any questions or require further information, please contact our VP Development, Ja-red Glazebrook, at chebuctodevelopment2021@gmail.com

DAYS & TIMES-
Monday – Friday – 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Saturday and Sunday – 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Session times will be announced once Registration is complete.

Thanks,
Ja-red Glazebrook, VP Development CMHA

Pre Season update- VP Development, Ja-red Glazebrook - CMHA

August 15, 2021

Pre-season update Thanks to everyone who has signed up for their pre-season blocks. There is still time and space for those who are interested. A reminder that registrations are due by August 19th. I have received a number of emails regarding ice times between August 27th-31st, and a wide range of conflicts that these dates have. Our fantastic ice scheduler, Katie Murphy, has worked with the Halifax Forum to secure enough ice for us between September 7th and September 25th so that we will no longer have to use any ice in August. Way to go Katie ! So to clarify, you will still receive the same amount of ice per block ( 1 block - five hours, and 2 blocks- 10 hours), but all ice sessions will take place between September 7th-September 25th. With regards to spectators and players arriving dressed. Although some facilities have permitted spectators, at this time it would be very difficult for us to ensure that we have accurate screening and tracking for each and every individual. This is different from the regular season, where each team has a format and a designated safety rep. We are hopeful that restrictions will be modified prior to September 7th. Please reach out to Ja-red Glazebrook, VP Development if you have any questions chebuctodevelopment2021@gmail.com

Chebucto Launches New Website Powered by GrayJay!

We are thrilled to launch our new and improved website, powered by the GrayJay Leagues platform from grayjaysolutions.com! Our new website brings a contemporary new look to our online presence, as well as new functionality, such as real-time scoring, electronic gamesheets, roster management, schedule management with conflict alerts, and much more!

The real-time scoring feature allows officials to easily update games as they happen, including goals, penalties, etc. on a mobile phone, tablet, or PC. This information is immediately available on the website for people to follow the game in the stands or at home.

Game data is automatically added to the team and player statistics on the website, and historical data has been imported to provide the user with a complete set of data in one convenient location. Electronic gamesheets are auto-generated for easy and improved record keeping.

Team and game rosters can be managed from any location with an internet connection to allow us to keep you up-to-date with the most current roster information.

We are excited for the possibilities of our new website and hope you will love it as much as we do!
