Along with recruitment of our volunteer coaches to act as shooters for our goalie sessions, I'd like to present an opportunity for our U15 aged and above Chebucto Athletes to join our pool of Goalie Session Shooters.

As we are expecting the Shooters to focus primarily on assisting the development of our goalies as opposed to primarily focusing on improving their dekes we will be paying our current and former athletes for their time. 

Over the season this will be a great way to meet some of the goalie coaches in the HRM and get yourself on the radar as a reliable shooter. 

If you are a current or former player and are interested in becoming a Goalie Session Shooter then please fill out the following expression of interest form.

Hi Folks,

The pre-season schedules and groupings have been updated to reflect a very limited number of requests granted to either support multi-sport athletics or compassionate grounds. 

We will be offering "one off" sign ups for any remaining open slots for those who missed sign-ups at a cost of 30 dollars per session. through Gray Jay for any sessions not at our ideal capacity opening this evening and remaining until the session start. 

This is in addition to our third U9 (Advanced U7) block which remains open for sign ups along with our New-U7/U9 Goalies programs which remain open for sign ups.

Hi Folks, 

Our pre-season signup times are now closed aside from some limited programs.

Thanks for all the great support. Given the high level of interest I am very confident the Chebucto hockey community is extemely vibrant and engaged. 

We are working on the schedule and player groups and it should be ready by Sunday evening Aug 13th, but there is some potential that some groups may not be fully finalized till Monday morning Aug 14th. There may be a shift of an hour here or there of the timeslots specified in each program but don't expect anything major. 

Some ( well....more than some...lol..) have requested special accomodation due to vacations and other such conflicts. While we have tried to manage this as best we can I cannot guarantee we have been able to accomodate in every case so please manage your expectations and potentially prepare for some dissappointments. 

A preliminary volunteer signup email has already went out however I will be releasing a broader email once the schedule is released to allow those parents staying the opportunity to help out with very easy roles such as check in, dressing room monitor, etc, etc.

I hope this message finds everyone doing well :) 

It is hard to believe that we are a little over a month before competitive tryouts begin!  I would like to thank all the folks working behind the scenes to get everything ready for another season of Chebucto Minor Hockey!  Below is some information and reminders as we approach the beginning of another season!

Preseason Development

Registration for preseason development closes today!  Bryan, our VP of Development has sent a number of reminders and updates pretaining to development sessions the last couple of weeks.  It really sounds like he has some great instructors lined up for our players to prepare them for the season! If you have any questions pretaining to development or are wondering if there are still spots avalaible after registration closes, please reach out to Bryan at development@chebuctominorhockey.com.

Also, we still are seeking volunteers to help make our Pre-Season development sessions a success. Volunteers help us reduce cost and make these sessions accessable to all while still maintain very high level of quality pre-season instruction. 

We are seeking:

• One Ice Lead Coaches
• On Ice Assistant Coaches (Goalie and Player)
• Dressing Room Monitors 
• Check in Staff
• Goalie Session Shooters

Competitive Tryout Information and Dates

Just wanted to send a quick update regarding Competitive Tryouts.  The majority of the evaluations will be taking place at the Forum/ Civic this year, with some of the later sessions happening at the Lion's Rink.

The following dates are when evaluations are scheduled to begin. As we get closer to the actual dates, a full schedule will be posted for each age group.

U11: Saturday, September 23, 2023

U13: Friday, September 15, 2023

U15: Thursday, September 28, 2023

U18: TBD (waiting until dates are published for U16AAA/ HS tryouts)

 1. Registration for competitive closes on August 21, so if you haven't already registered, please remember to do so.

Coaching Selection Committee Update

The coaching selection committee would like to thank all of the parents and non parent volunteers who put their names forward to coach for this coming year!  We have a number of parents candidates who we are not able to name at this time as we need to wait until we see where their children land after tryouts. Parent coaches will be named closer to the end of tryouts.  As we move through the tryout process the coaching selection committee will narrow down the parent candidates.

In terms of non-parent coaches, we would like to welcome back and name Justin Ritcey as our U13AAA coach once again this year and Dante Manuel as our U18AA coach once again this year.  Justin and Dante are everything we like to stand for as an assocation in having our players come back after successful years playing to give back to the association.  Congratulations Justin and Dante, and welcome back! Other coaches we are naming that is time are Peter Jollimore U24 Rec, and Paul Chui U18 Rec, again two coaches who are returning to Chebucto after many years of coaching those two teams!

We've added a third pre-season block for U9s that is open as well to more advanced U7s. Any U7 player who would like to participate please ensure you have discussed with VP U7 Jay Mackenzie prior to signup.
