Built Better: "Double Banner" Season with Historic 9-0 Championship Shutout

The TASA U13C Ducks Black have officially cemented their place in the club’s history books. In a season defined by composure, tactical discipline, and relentless consistency, the Ducks capped off their league campaign this afternoon with a statement 9-0 shutout victory in the MMHL Gold League Championship Final.

A Season of Dominance

Entering the final against an opponent that had held the league’s top ranking all season, the Ducks Black arrived with a clear objective.

From the opening puck drop, the Ducks dismantled the top seed with a clinical, high-paced attack, ultimately securing a 9-0 victory—a lopsided scoreline that served as a decisive reality check on the biggest stage of the season. Ducks Black let their performance on the ice do the talking.

The Double Banner Legacy

This afternoon’s Gold League banner is the second major trophy of the year for the Ducks Black. Earlier in the season, the team captured the coveted Kyle Henneberry Memorial Tournament title, proving their ability to thrive in high-stakes tournament environments.

Coupled with a remarkable 8-1-0 tournament record including their recent trip to Prince Edward Island, the Ducks Black have showcased a level of consistency that is rarely seen at the U13 level. Across the entire season, the team has successfully balanced elite offensive production with a disciplined, "team-first" defensive structure that has proven nearly impossible to break.

Built Better: Discipline Under Pressure

Perhaps the most telling aspect of the team’s championship run is their discipline. In a final defined by high emotions and physical play, the Ducks Black maintained complete composure. While the intensity of the game led to multiple penalties for their opposition, the Ducks remained focused on their systems, finishing the championship final with just a single minor penalty.

"It’s not about the noise or the rankings before the game," noted a parent. "It’s about what you do when the puck hits the ice. We’ve been focused on building a team that stays in the moment, stays disciplined, and plays for one another. Two banners in one year is the result of that work."

Next Stop: SEDMHA

With the Kyle Henneberry and the MMHL Gold League banners now secured, the Ducks Black are far from finished. The team’s focus has already shifted to the upcoming SEDMHA tournament at the end of March.

As they prepare for their final challenge of the year, the Ducks Black carry the momentum of a historic season, a reputation for clinical discipline, and the quiet confidence of a group that has proven exactly who they are on the ice.

The hardware is home at SMC, but for the Ducks Black, the job isn’t done yet.

The Flock Takes Flight: TASA Ducks Black Set Sights on PEI Glory

POWNAL, PEI – The Confederation Bridge is about to see a lot of black and orange this weekend.

The TASA U13 C Ducks Black, fresh off a dominant run that saw them finish as the #1 ranked team in the Metro Minor Hockey Gold League after their last playoff game, are officially taking their show on the road. The squad has touched down in Prince Edward Island for the highly anticipated High Valley A Tournament, marking the first away tournament in the team’s current campaign.

A Dynasty in the Making?

To understand the hype surrounding this road trip, you have to look at the "flight path" this team has taken over the last year. This isn't just a team having a lucky month; it's a program built on consistency.

Just two months ago, the Ducks Black etched their names into the history books at the 2025 Kyle Henneberry Memorial Tournament. In a display of pure hockey dominance, they went an undefeated 5-0-0 to capture the Gold Medal. That championship pedigree followed them back into regular-season play, where they battled through a grueling schedule to claim the top spot in the Gold League standings with a record that made the rest of the league take notice.

Bridging the Gap

While the Ducks have ruled the roost in the Metro Minor circuit, the High Valley A Tournament represents a new challenge: the unknown. The Ducks are scheduled for three confirmed preliminary games against top-tier PEI talent.

Going to the first away tournament is a rite of passage. It’s about more than just the scoreboard; it’s about the team bonding in the hotel, the pre-game meals, and representing TASA pride outside of our home rink.

The Game Plan

The Ducks start their round-robin play this Friday. Success in the first three games will determine their seeding for the knockout rounds. For fans unable to make the trek across the bridge, the team has confirmed that every game will be live-streamed on YouTube, ensuring that "Ducks Nation" can cheer from the living room.

Whether they are crashing the crease in Pownal or making a splash in the hotel pool (literally—word is the team hotel has a great one), the Ducks Black are looking to prove that their #1 ranking travels well.

Stay tuned to the official team page for live updates and scores.

Honouring Selah

The TASA U13 C Ducks Black team, along with the entire TASA Minor Hockey Association, extends its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Selah Panacci-MacCallum, who recently passed away at the age of 10 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Selah was a cherished young member of the TASA family, and her spirit and passion for life touched so many in the hockey community. Her father, JP MacCallum, is a well-known member and coach within the local hockey association.

Dedicated Game of Heart and Courage

In a powerful display of community and remembrance, the TASA U13 C Ducks Black team dedicated their recent game to Selah's memory. Every player took the ice with Selah's spirit on their stick (marked with pink tape) and her courage close to their heart, wearing her tribute Number 10 on their chest. Every shift, every stride, was for Selah. This moving gesture reminds us that the bonds formed through hockey are truly those of family. We are incredibly proud to be part of an association that supports each other during the toughest times with such unity, strength, and love.

We encourage all Ducks Black families and fans to keep Selah's family in their thoughts and continue to demonstrate the core TASA values of effort, fun, and teamwork in her memory. May her spirit live on in the great game she loved.
