Important Tryout Information - Please Read!
Hello Chebucto Families!
We would like to start by welcoming you all to the 2022-2023 CMHA hockey season. Like every year, this season will officially begin with our Evaluations and Tryout process.
The evaluation committee has been busy preparing the tryout schedule and would like to share with you some key dates, procedures and processes that meet the following objectives:
1. To provide a fair, consistent and impartial assessment of all players.
2. To create an environment where each player has the opportunity to demonstrate their hockey skills, to the best of their ability.
3. To create an environment where each player has a reasonable opportunity to be selected for the level appropriate to their skill, maturity, and ability where they may continue to grow and develop as a player.
4. To ensure that all players and families understand the expectations upon which players will be evaluated.
5. To ensure all evaluators are objective, unbiased, free of conflict of interest, and have a thorough understanding of their role and the responsibilities associated with it.
6. To provide ongoing review and improvement of the player evaluation and team selection process, ensuring that the process evolves to meet the changing demands placed upon CMHA.
If you have not already reviewed the policies and procedures guidelines, we would recommend you do. They can be found here:

A reminder that CMHA is committed to providing a positive environment where all individuals are treated with respect. We ask that all parents, caregivers, or players abide by the “24 hour rule” policy and unless there is an immediate safety concern, wait at least 24 hours prior to contacting the ombudsperson to voice concerns about the tryout and evaluation process.
There is no question that tryouts can be both an exciting and stressful time for hockey players and their parents. We wish these young athletes a positive try out experience.
Sincerely,
The Chebucto Tryout Committee
