Message from Dean Smith, Free in Class Clinic this Saturday!
Hockey Nova Scotia is hosting a free in-class clinic with trailblazing coach, John Paris Jr., this Saturday at the RBC Center. This clinic is designed for coaches, as well as elite and advancing players. It would be great to have Chebucto represented, so please share with membership.
As you may know, John has a number of firsts in his resume, including:
- First Black professional coach in hockey (International Hockey League’s Atlanta Knights).
- First Black professional coach to win a professional hockey title (Turner Cup, 1994).
- First Black coach in the QMJHL.
- First Black coach to win the Air Canada Cup (now Telus Cup) Richelieu Riverain 1987.
- First Black hockey executive.
- First Black NHL scout (with St. Louis Blues).
